Seminar Description

This seminar will explore innovative, collaborative strategies to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing Plus (DHH+) and vulnerable children and their families. Topics will include special considerations in medical management, executive function, Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), inclusive education, and more—offering practical tools for hearing healthcare providers and education professionals alike.

 

Target Audience

Professionals serving children who are DHH+ and/or vulnerable, and their families. Audience members will include speech-language pathologists, deaf educators, audiologists, listening and spoken language specialists, special education program administrators, physicians, nurse case managers, social workers, students, parents, and other allied professionals.

American Academy of Audiology

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland is approved by the American Academy of Audiology to offer Academy CEUs for this activity. The program is worth a maximum of 0.55 CEUs. Academy approval of this continuing education activity is based on course content only and does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedure, or adherence of the event to the Academy's Code of Ethics. We are currently applying to offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and the AG Bell Academy (LSLS).

It is anticipated that the seminar content from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm will be eligible for CEU credit, with the exception of the session from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Only participants who attend all seminar sessions during this timeframe will be eligible for CEUs. Partial credit will not be granted.

In order to claim CEUs, participants must complete the following by the end of the event on 10/24/2025: 1) attend the seminar in full, 2) complete the post-session learning assessment, and 3) submit the required information for CE Registry.

Complaint Procedures: Any complaints regarding the CEU procedures should be directed to the CE Coordinators for this event, Joy Kearns (Joy.Kearns@ucsf.edu) and Alison Nachman (Alison.Nachman@ucsf.edu). Any complaints regarding the event should be addressed in the program evaluation, to be completed at the end of the seminar.

Registration Policies

  • No children

  • No registration at the door

  • The last day to register is October 17, 2025

  • Cancellation requests must be made in writing and received on or before October 10, 2025. There is a $50 handling fee for all refunds and returned checks. Cancellations and registrations postmarked after the deadline will not be eligible for refunds.
