Join us this summer for some exciting Teen Boot Camps! Whether at our Baking camp or Culinary camp, over the course of three days of hands-on learning, teens aged 13 to 19 will explore the fundamentals of cooking, working with knives, food safety, and techniques to make dishes that they can be proud of! Each camp offers morning (9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and afternoon (1:30-5:00 p.m.) sessions to choose from. Students will take home from

Global Flavors: Understand cultures through cuisine by utilizing traditional ingredients and techniques. Learn skills to expand your culinary knowledge and discover new foods and flavors.

Learning objectives for the classes 

  • Knife skills
  • Meat and seafood fabrication
  • Basic cooking methods – frying, grilling, sautéing, baking and more
  • Sauces, seasonings, and marinades from scratch
  • Specialty skills – pasta, fresh cheese, pickling
  • Safety and sanitation
  • Calculating weights and measures
  • Identifying utensils and equipment
  • Tasting while cooking
 

Note: While some food allergies may be accommodated and the menu modified, it is not always the case. Please contact Caitlin Myers (cmyers@auburn.edu) for specific inquiries.

Attire: Pants, long sleeves & closed toe shoes REQUIRED in labs. Wear something comfy that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty.  No shorts or sandals allowed in the labs, no exceptions. Guests will receive an apron.

What time doors open? 
Check in begins 15 minutes prior to class.

Is food served? 
There will be light snacks provided. Guests may bring home completed baking and culinary treats from the camp.

Where do I park? 
Parking – Week day 

Street parking is free after 6:00 p.m. You can park for free after 5:00 p.m. on the 2nd or 3rd floors of the parking deck adjacent to the Auburn University Hotel & Conference Center. To find more details about downtown parking, you may visit the City of Auburn’s website. Sometimes finding parking can be a challenge, so please allow yourself enough time. We don’t want you to miss a thing! Before 5pm consult the City of Auburn’s parking linked above.  The Wright Street Deck allows for longer than two hour parking. 

What is attire?
