DNA of a Southern Boy
DNA of a Southern Boy Albert J. Smith, Jr. grew up in Montgomery, AL. A Navy veteran, he graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1947 in mechanical engineering. While at API he met and later married the love of his life; for their 50th wedding anniversary he donated the lead gift to build AU's art museum, Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, in her name. Mr. Smith writes of his and his family's struggles which run the gamut from arson as political revenge to boll weevil infestation.
